Cappadocia Region - home to many civilisations throughout its history, is an unprecedented center of tourism with incredible natural rich sources below and above the ground.
French travellers discovered this region and named it “Cappadoce” during the 1960’s, in a period when the region welcomed its irst tourists of modern time. Between the years 1987 and 1990, when the demand for accommodation increased, the boarding houses were accompanied with modern hotels in Ürgüp, Avanos and Nevşehir mainly designed for group tours.
In 1988, in order to establish the communication within the tourism sector of the region and with the bureaucracy in Ankara, Cappadocia Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association (KAPTID) was founded. KAPTID, which only allowed a limited number of members to begin with, has and is still expanding it’s member database everyday and by today has 60 members. Today, KAPTID has grown into the leading non-governmental tourism organisation of Cappadocia by also including small (cave) hotels, hot air balloon companies and traditional merchandise shops as it’s members.
KAPTID, which has made signiicant contributions to the brandname of Cappadocia through national as well as international promotions; and will continue to promote, develop and improve the tourism potential of this extraordinary region with the solid support from all of its members.
